Matt's Story
Matt was at his home in Joplin Missouri preparing to leave for work at a local news station on May 22nd when the F-5 tornado ripped through the city. Matt was found several hours later as rescuers dug through the rubble in search of victims. He awoke in a Kansas City hospital facing the amputation of his left limb above the knee and severe injuries to his head, spine, and left arm.
After spending several months in the healing process, Matt began his prosthetic care with another prosthetic provider and met with our team several months later after evaluating his options. During his first appointment, we outlined a path that would investigate Matt's complete rehabilitation to several of his favorite activities which included running, swimming, hiking, music, and more carefree and comfortable fit of his prosthesis. The improved fit of Matt's prosthesis gave him an immediate increase in his confidence and comfort, in his own words: "I never thought I would be able to walk this well. I haven't been this confident since my accident."
With improved prosthetic function, our team has been delighted to see Matt reach goals and achieve the lifestyle he enjoyed before his amputation.
